Project Manager – Construction

Location Vancouver, BC

Marquee Group is seeking a Construction Project Manager who will have the unique opportunity of working directly on behalf of a client. Reporting to the President and Director of Development & Operation, you will be responsible for managing residential and mixed-use construction projects throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for on time, on budget, high quality and safe delivery of the assigned projects for the entire project life cycle.
  • Attend and provide input in bi-weekly and monthly project status meetings.
  • Project planning including establishing project objectives, policies, procedures, performance standards, risk analysis, quality control, project communication and flow of information.
  • Effectively communicate with team members to design, value engineer and negotiate construction contracts to meet timely delivery of the project.
  • Review documents, project drawings, contracts and specifications in detail and inform the appropriate team members of any potential conflicts or issues.
  • Responsible for tendering, analysis, negotiation, scope definition, and contract design for all project procurement.
  • Recognize potential issues; investigate, assess key factors and provide solutions.
  • Ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design and budget allocations.
  • Establish lock down baseline budgets and schedules.
  • Contribute to planning and estimating.
  • Liaise with the project team, consultants and sub-contractors.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, change orders, site instructions, RFI’s, inspection reports and additions to contractual agreements with ownership’s approval.
  • Manage consultants, contractors and the project team on daily operations, construction schedules and monitor project progress.
  • Monitor expenditures effectively, review invoices in detail, and manage labour and material costs according to the project budget and underlying estimate.
  • Participate in final inspections of the project along with the service and warranty department and have the project team correct any remaining deficiencies.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction project management experience, preferably with a general contractor; wood construction an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of the specific needs, codes, and regulations pertaining to Vancouver.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with owners, trades and consultants.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and construction law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
  • Experience writing technical reports.
  • Detailed and organized.
  • A strong understanding of residential multifamily construction, sequencing and flow of information.
  • Estimating experience an asset. Able to perform material take-offs and quantity checks.
  • Problem solver, adaptable and solution oriented, solid conflict resolution skills.
  • Project accounting and experience with project forecasting and reporting to ownership.
  • Design project execution plans and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Experience with commercial, multi-family residential and hospitality construction.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction or Project Management.
